“That’s it that’s all“ are quite clear words, but that describes our disappointment after the race. After all stories of our mission in Pietermaritzburg we had quiet good looking results in qualification. We saw potential for the finals and we thought we are well prepared after all the struggles we had.
Race day started already bad with Luke having stomach flu, which make’s it impossible for him to stay on the bike. He was puking before and after his race run and he was lucky to see the finish line. Filip had a quiet good run and make up some positions, he sat in the hotseat for a while and finally end up in 30th position. Brook was pedaling hard and he seems to me really fast in the top section, but the split time told us something different. He couldn’t make up the time till the finish and ended up 27th. Also Markus looked really good in the pedaling section but the split was almost the same as the one of Brook and he just ended up one place ahead of Brook.
We were at loss with the result, but after analyzing the whole thing we think we found out what the other teams did better in their preparing and we failed at. So we know where we have to improve and that make us looking forward to the upcoming races.
Now we are back in Europe and start preparing and testing new stuff. Our next stop will be the IXS cup race of Monte Tamaro.
