After 10 years the mountainbike world cup circuit came back to Bromont/ Canada, which make some of the riders reminisce about the olden days. Independently form the memories of some primary rocks of the world cup the races in Bromont pan out for MS- INTENSE FACTORY- RACING. All the riders where super motivated which turned out in some good results,a 3rd place and a win at the end of the day.

Again the race weekend was influenced by some rain, which causes delays for training and a hard DH track. JD was unable to qualify for the race because of a mechanical and so just Matti and Mio where racing the finals. Mio point out with a solid run and finished up 7th and Matti appeared in 8th position of the result list, which is again a strong sign for his comeback.

After some unhappy 4th places in the last two races Anneke was crazy about getting back on the top spot of the podium.

Anneke (on her website):

I qualified 2nd so I knew I had to hit my lines good for racing. Just before racing started it rained again and the course was getting a bit slippery again. Especially the rock garden was getting really slippery. Sometimes I felt like a ping pong ball going trough there. In the final my start was okay, so I just tried to make my legs work hard to get to that first turn first……
I went in to the first corner leading. From that moment on I knew I could not effort any mistakes on this track, so I took all my inside lines :) and made it to finish line with no mistakes.
Yeehaaaw 1st place. The last 2 races have been a disappointment to me, so this win means a lot to me… feels like I’m back on track.

Mio finished up in the top 3 again and underline her overall race form as she is one out of two female racers competing both 4X and DH.

But the big surprise of the 4X race was the gig of JD Swanguen. Because of the fact the he usually is not racing 4X he was not registered, which causes a massive late entry fee through the UCI- JD made a deal with the team management saying that he will race on his own costs if he could not qualify for the race. If he qualifies the team should pay the half of the fee and if he will be able to get in the top 8 the team pays it all…

JD was able to qualify for the race, but until the first corner we have been sure that we don’t need to pay the rest of the money. He had a bad start and was in last position, but things changed in the first corner where JD overtook two riders (amongst others: Dan Atherton) and fight against Guido Tschugg for the lead (check the clip at 0.07.20). JD showed an amazing and pretty interesting race and it looked almost like that he could make it in the finals in his first world cup 4X. Unfortunately this is not the story to tell, because he crashed through no fault of his own pretty close to the finish (check the clip at 0.07.43). Nevertheless JD showed a good show and made this 4X race somehow special- thanks dude for the entertainment.
