While Matti and Filip went home to work on their bike setups and their fitness, Steve represents MS EVIL racing at Sea Otter classics.
Stevie talking about the new bike, new sponsors and the new team (it seems like he is looking forward to travel through Europe in the MS RACING tour bus):
MS EVIL racing went into the DH finals with some big hopes as we knew about the potential of our riders and that they have been ready to rock.
Unfortunately they couldn’t strike as we hoped, because of technical problems of Matti and a crash of Filip in one of the stone sections, which makes it impossible for them to finish with a top result. Stevie did well and finished 20th- he was 1 out of 5 in the top 20 with flat pedals on a SPD favored track.
The downhill was dominated by the Santa Cruz syndicate with Minaar who took the win and Peat in 3rd. Mick Hannah came back to the world cup and showed with a 2nd place that we need to count with him for world championships 2009 in Canberra Australia as well as with Sam Hill who became 4th in his first world cup race for the big S. He was one of the bigger surprises this weekend, as he was known for somebody who is not happy about pedaling a lot- he seems to be well prepared for the pedaling course of Canberra.
Now this race is a chapter of the mountain bike history as Minaar wins in front of his home crowd and the world cup circuit is leaving the continent for going home, attending Sea Otter classics or preparing for the next UCI mountain bike world cup round in Houffalize/ BEL and La Bresse/ FRA.
Stay tuned for more news of the Sea Otter Classics.
