It’s a few days now until we are on the road to the UCI world cup in Fort William/ Scotland. On the way we passed a couple of very nice spots like Amsterdam were we did some sightseeing and racing thru the city with our bikes (by the way the Evil Resident is a really nice bike for “in city shredding”).
Right now we are in Innerleithen and taking part of the European IXS cup. Even Innerleithen is in the middle of nowhere of Scotland, it is the home of our young gun Lewis Buchanan and so it is special for the team to be here. There isn’t a lot to do in Innerleithen, but they have an awesome bike park, even it is without a lift.
Innerleithen built a whole new track for the IXS cup round and so it was also brand new for Lewis and even here are a couple of the top guild of the UCI mountain bike world cup, he was able to win the qualifying by 1.1 sec ahead of Nick Beer from Scott 11 and Ben Reid of the Norco Dirt team. Filip ended up 14th and Brook qualified on 98th place as a result of 3 crashed in his seeding run.
On race day Lewis was able to survive the pressure of a home race and got 2nd right behind Cathro Ben and ahead of some big names out of the UCI mountain bike world cup such as Nick Beer or Cameron Cole. Filip became 10th and Brook finished 53rd.

Now we are on the way to Fort William passing Glasgow for picking up Steve and Luke. Stay tuned for more news of our UK trip…
Our friends of the mtbfreeride.tv plattform did a interview with us on race day…
First world cup round of Maribor is over and we are already on the road again. The world cup went pretty good so far even the results are not as they could be. All riders have been on fire and tried to brave the conditions as everybody. Unfortunately Brook and Filip crashed in their race run and so they are further back in the ranking. Luke was handicapped by a cold, but he was able to finish in the first 3rd of the top 80’s, which is maybe not what he expected, after his qualification where he ended up 6th.
Steve had a pretty solid but not faultless run which got him into 6th place. This is his best world cup result since he is racing and shows that he is getting closer to his first podium.
6. Steve Smith CAN
22. Luke Strobel USA
38. Brook MacDonald NZL
58. Filip Polc SVK
Now we are on the way to Winterberg Germany to race the IXS cup in course of the Dirtmasters Festival. Right now it’s no sure if it’s just Filip, Brook and Lewis will race there, as Luke and Steve may stay in Europe because of the volcanic ash cloud- it seems like there is no problem to fly out of Europe, but there might be a problem to fly in for the next world cup round in Fort William.
Stay tuned for the next news of the IXS cup races in Winterberg and Innerleithen.
